Welcome to online tutoring to learn Balinese language and Balinese script.

In this blog we will learn about question words in Indonesian, Balinese and write them in Balinese script.

Note¹ : in Balinese, There are less than 5 levels of language. In this lesson I will use the Balinese language "kepara". Is a Balinese language that is often used by the general public.

The following is a table of question words in English, Indonesian and Balinese.

LANGUAGE EXAMPLE
EN Where Where are you going?
ID Kemana Kemana kamu pergi
BB Kija Lakar kija cai?
Á,eb, kij. lk(kijchi.
EN Where Where did you put it?
ID Dimana Dimana kamu taruh?
BB Dija Dija jang cai?
Á,eb, dij. dijj*chi.
note² : "where" In Indonesian it means "dimana dan kemana" depending on the context of the sentence.
Likewise in Balinese, "where" means "dija dan kija" depending on the context of the sentence that follows.

EN When When are you leaving?
ID Kapan Kapan kamu pergi?
BB BindanBindan cai magedi?
Á,eb, binÑn/.
 binÑnÇhimg)di.
note³ : Bindan = Buin Pidan
So, you can use the words "buin pidan" or "bindan" in Balinese when you want to ask "when".

 ekenÐnÇren.
EN How How much is this?
ID Berapa Berapa harganya ini?

Á,eb, kud. hjikudniki.
note⁴ : Sometimes, "how" can mean "what" in Indonesian. For example in a sentence;
How are you? The meaning "apa kabar?"

note5: Sometimes the word "what" can mean "who" in Indonesian. For example in a sentence;
"What is your name?" the meaning "siapa namamu?"
